Last night Scott and I hit the red carpet and went to watch the new reality TV show from Boston, Wicket Fit, now on the Style Network. The star of the show Katie Boyd, is, as the show states “… a beauty queen, a drama queen…and everything in between!”
”Katie runs the Miss Fit Club. A women-only gym run by the Boston-based former beauty queen. Beneath Katie’s pageant-friendly looks beats the heart of a drill sergeant. She pushes her clients, both pageant hopefuls and suburban moms, through tough workout routines with equal parts tough love and laughter. Katie is a force to be reckoned with as she helps her clients reach their fitness goals while learning a lot about life (and themselves) along the way.”
The show itself, very funny. For me, it was like watching my cousins and my aunts at a family gathering…. except talking fitness and with a WHOLE lot of pink decor. I may have felt a family connection due to the fact Katie and her Best friend Mo, are from Taunton, where the mighty Orsini Clan (my fathers side) hails from. My family is loud, funny, and doesn’t have a problem telling you what they think. We also haven’t met a camera we didn’t like. So..I identify with the Boyd’s a bit.
So much television is “reality” tv these days. Why bother with one show versus another? In this case, full disclosure, I’m watching because my husband is on the camera team shooting the show. I hope that my viewership will keep it going, and mean more local work for our local film makers.
Honestly, I found the show to be very very funny. Maybe it’s because that the comedy was raised in my back yard, but I enjoyed it. It was also heart warming being at the season premiere party, and seeing one of Katie’s Clients, watching herself on the show. She was at the Miss Fit Club to lose weight, a lot of weight. The kind of weight that comes with a death sentence. But there she was, starring up at herself on the TV, looking a good deal slimmer. I was glad to see that someone was getting fit. Despite all the drama, real or scripted, there was real reality for that woman. You go girl. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season comes out.
